This time for real though!
Still, at times I might pick something completely different depending on what I think will fit the piece best, I'd recommend testing brushes out and organizing your brush folders with ones you think might be fun to use and see which ones stick!
-What drawing program do you use?
Photoshop CC 2019 for painting/drawing
-What tablet are you using?
A Wacom Cintiq
-Are your commissions open?
I only open limited slots at a time to keep my commissions manageable! If you aren't seeing a status post, journal post, or commission sheet in my gallery with "Slots OPEN" or anything the like in the title- then I'm sadly closed.
-Can you notify me when you're open again?
No, sorry. Pinglists and waiting lists, both I can only see being efficient in very specific cases. I switch up the types of commissions I open for from time to time, I could go from a batch of headshot commissions to fullbody characters, to full illustration scenes - There's no guarantee that the commissions I open are the ones you'd be interested in when pinged - Plus, depending on the slots I open they've in the past filled within an hour of time - it would repeatedly make me feel bad for notifying people just to basically let them know they still missed their chance despite it - Hell, if the amount of people I put on a pinglist exceeds the number of slots I'm willing to open, I'll be guaranteed to feel bad for some as a default.
Waiting lists on the other hand just end up being extensions of a commission batch - There's a reason why I limit the number of slots I take on at a time; I take on as many as I feel I can finish within a reasonable amount of time. Having, what is basically, a second list of people waiting for your work to be done- Which technically can always refill no matter if you plan on making more commissions immediately after the current batch or not? Can get a bit stressful fast
-Are you accepting art trades?
Right now; no. I limit myself to friends at most, focusing on commissions and other projects take priority tho
-*commenting on an artwork* Is that referencing/inspired by X-character from Y-franchise??
If I specifically reference / or take inspiration from something that already exists, I will mention it directly in the description or even the title of an artwork. If I haven't done any of that, then it usually means that any similarities are unintentional :'I
-Are you self-taught?
Yup, but that mostly means that I've been slowly collecting new info and skills from all kinds of sources, youtube, tumblr, deviantart etc.
www.youtube.com/playlist?list=… <-youtube playlist of videos I've found informative or helpful concerning art
I did study animation in Luxembourg at LTAM - BTS Dessin d'animation tho!

Some other questions that I sometimes get:
-Are you German/French?????
I'm Luxembourgish with Swedish parents, thus I learned German, French and Luxembourgish in primary school! (my French skills are atrocious, and I've never had a formal education in Swedish, so both reading and writing in that language is incredibly weird)
I haven't done one of these earlier, because frequently asked questions didn't happen that often in regular intervals, but now it will probably come in handy.... anyway, if you can think of anything that might be of general interest and that isn't included in this list, let me know and I'll add it!

Art related questions:
-What brushes do you use?
For digital painting/one layer painting I often use a Brush from Deharme BRUSHES / Photoshop-CC In the second row, "PAINT", second-last, the brush that is at "175" pixel size default
For Lineart I sometimes mix it up, using either a pencil-like brush or the "gouache" brush from the loish brushset

Sketch Headshot commissions - CLOSED
First of all; it's first come first serve. The first 7 to comment about wanting a slot will get them. Please check the comment section below before making your own comment, I might not be immediate on the update of the journal title once the slots are filled. ---- ---- 15$ sketch headshots no color, but grey fill and some highlighting/minimal shading Anything goes subject wise, human, animal, robot, anthro etc One slot=one headshot Payment is over paypal I'll reply to your comment with a go-ahead to send me your character reference if you've snagged a slot! ---- ---- and, HEY it's been what, since 2018 that I properly opened commissions? And tbf this isn't a proper re-opening just yet, gonna test the waters first, doing commissions on weekends while working on weekdays, so I'm keeping it small and contained for now. Also gonna be interesting to see if impromptu journal-based announcements still work as well as they did before the site update - I used to prefer them over the
Scammer warning and update!
Aight it's been a while, and there's gonna be some stuff to talk about I got notified recently about a scammer using my semblance trying to resell auctions under the premise of the final sale being chanceled - they used the handle "remarim". Filing a complaint was easy enough but I wouldnt be surprised if they just went ahead and made a new account to try again later. Please doublecheck the accounts you get messages from! Also, I'm unfamiliar with the procedure itself but if any of you have gotten note of their paypal information you should be able to file a complaint with paypal itself as well - though again, one of the initial notes I had seen on this scammer claimed they had multiple accounts there as well. So best to still be careful. --- Now with that out of the way, and honestly I'm unsure how many people still read journals, I'll just give a blanket update on where I'm at - I'm currently working fulltime on an indie 2D platformer, video game. On the side I've been
Learning about art - Link dump
Just wanted to put this recommendation list out as a journal post! I've shared my personal Youtube playlist before, but I don't even remember how many years ago that was,, Anyway, here are some channels, YouTubers and resources that have helped me immensely both in mental health and technical learning when it comes to art! ----- Youtube channels: Adam Duff LUCIDPIXUL https://www.youtube.com/user/AdamationStation - gives advice on art; related to mental health when working in the industry Video examples: "How to discover your artistic voice" "Advice for artists who are too hard on themselves" "Taking Breaks Without Sacrificing Artistic Growth (And Avoiding Burnout!)" Ahmed Aldoori https://www.youtube.com/user/revolutions34 - various advice, talks about his own struggles/journey and how he tries to overcome them in his "MEDCAST" series Video examples: "MEDCAST 41: Art Envy "MEDCAST 36: Finding your art path" "MEDCAST 24: Stop Worrying" (Also does drawing
Heyho update
I happened to have a talk with my mother about recent trouble sleeping, and a general feeling of non-stop stress. (woke up a couple of days in a row at 4 a.m and just couldn't fall back asleep at that point)
And she stopped me at some point to say that it all sounds like the beginnings of burn-out (she went through it once in the past, so she recognized the mindset I was in)
I lately have been piling up more and more things of "stuff I want to work on" while gradually becoming less and less productive outside of school (first school year, I still managed to do a commission every weekend or so,, right now? basically nothing). All while I sti
